Alsace celebrated its emblematic varieties in style at the
competition for the best Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer in the world in Strasbourg.
This annual competition is run following OIV rules (Organisation Internationale de
la Vigne et du Vin). Out of 1,132 wines presented, some 74% were
French with others coming from Australia, Austria, Canada, the
Czech Republic, Germany, and the US amongst others. The blind
tasting was undertaken by international panels of wine experts,
with a majority of non French judges on each panel. Some
